Deanery Events

Deanery Forum

Once a term we have a Deanery Forum. These are open to everyone in the Deanery – clergy, church members, Deanery Synod Reps – anyone who is interested! We try to cover topics that are useful for our mission and ministry in south London. We’ve looked at lay ministry, immigration and in 2020 we’re looking at Eco Church.

Children and Young People

We try to support our ministry with Children and Young People by running special training events and giving people new experiences. Over the last few years we ran a large Deanery Messy Church event (pictures) and in November 2019 we took 31 young people on a Deanery Youth Weekend away to St Mark’s College, where they had fun together and worshipped together. We looked at environmental issues from a Christian perspective, had a brilliant country walk, did craft activities, a drumming workshop, lazer tag and the young people prepared and led a Sunday act of worship. More events are in the pipeline for 2020.

Thy Kingdom Come

Every year we take part in the national prayer initiative Thy Kingdom Come. This is a global prayer initiative that runs from Ascension to Pentecost. It gives us an opportunity to pray together across the Deanery.

Soul Food

Once a year we hold a large worship event with great food and worship that comes from the Iona tradition – using songs from around the globe to connect with God. This is an informal service with both a lively and reflective feel.
